Cottage Life
Shopping & Services
The Twin Shores campground is just a half km down the dirt road from Robi
Road. There, you’ll find a small convenience store, dairy bar and
take-out restaurant. The selection is limited but you’ll find any basics
you might need. The best place for groceries is the Save Easy
in Kensington. It’s open on Sundays for your convenience. Just
head back to town and go straight through the lights – it’s only a short
distance past the traffic signal on the left. Kent, in Kensington is the
only hardware store in the area. It’s on your right hand side as you
head back into town. There are Petro Canada and Esso gas stations in
Kensington along with a Scotiabank and Credit Union.

|
There is a car wash, a video rental store and gift shops. There is also
a liquor store next to the restored rail station that is now a popular pub.
|
|
Fresh Lobster & Seafood
A fresh seafood market can be found inside the Ship to Shore Restaurant, back towards town just before
the bumpy wooden bridge you crossed on the way to the cottage. One of the restaurant's owners also operates a successful seafood distribution company on the island, so you can be sure of quality and freshness.
|
|
 |
The restaurant is a summer favourite with the cottage crowd as
much as it is with the locals.
|
|
Dining Out
Restaurants and tourist attractions can be found in several of the towns along
the north shore. Carr’s Oyster Bar in Stanley Bridge is a great waterfront
restaurant/pub. Some of the finest dining on the island can be found at The
Dalvay near Stanhope and The Olde Mill Restaurant in New Glasgow. When leaving Lower
Darnley Road, turn left onto Highway 20 and follow the scenic route to
French River,
|
Seaview, Stanley Bridge and New London. It is a beautiful drive along
the gulf coast.
