Beach House
The Dunes at Darnley Basin
The Dunes is the beautiful summer getaway of Eugene & Michelle Duke from Toronto, Ontario. When they're not spending time at The Dunes,
they are more than pleased to offer it to others so they may enjoy the
pleasures of an island vacation. The Dunes is a modern, five year-old
beach house located on a peninsula along the north shore of Prince Edward
Island between the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the Darnley Basin. The beach
house is perfect for couples or families. It can accommodate up to seven
people but is ideal for families of four to six members. The 900 square
foot home features a tongue and groove knotty pine interior with open vaulted
ceilings in the living room, dining room and kitchen. Outside, there
is a wrap around deck, and
|
|
a big outdoor fireplace with enough Adirondack chairs so that everyone can
enjoy the spectacular sunsets.

The Living Area
The well-lit living and dining rooms look out over the large deck to the
Darnley Basin through two full-size sliding patio doors and a large picture
window. The tastefully decorated room features a large comfortable
sectional sofa, two leather club chairs and an entertainment cabinet for the
VHS, DVD, CD players and
television. An assortment of board games can be found cleverly stored
inside the coffee table. The dining room table with its bench seating easily
accommodates six people. There are also two bar stools at the end of the countertop to provide additional seating if you

happen to have a house full of cottage guests you've invited to stay for dinner.

The Kitchen
When it comes to preparing meals, you’ll find everything you need in the
modern well-equipped kitchen. Quality appliances include a ceramic cooktop
stove, side by side refrigerator with ice and filtered water in the door, a
built-in dishwasher and a microwave oven. Small appliances include a
coffee maker, toaster, pancake griddle, slow cooker, electric kettle, coffee
grinder, blender, mixer and an electric can opener.

There
are
plenty of dishes for baking; even a bread maker for those who wish to bake
fresh bread or dinner rolls.

The Bedrooms
There are two comfortable bedrooms. The master bedroom features a queen
size pine sleigh bed and the second bedroom has bunk beds that can sleep three children or
two adults (double lower and twin upper). The bedrooms have double
closets and storage for your clothes and personal items. The master
bedroom also has an armoire and dressing table. There is a four piece
bathroom, laundry room and plenty of additional storage in the foyer closet.
Extra bed linens, quilts, spare pillows and towels can be

found in the bedroom closets or in the well-stocked linen closet. |

The Deck & Yard
The large
wrap-around deck offers superb views of the basin and the sunsets over Hog
Island and Proffit's Point. Comfortable, quality outdoor furniture makes
relaxing outdoors even more enjoyable. For those who like to grill or
cook fresh lobster, there is a large stainless steel propane barbecue and
propane-fired lobster pot. There is also an outdoor fireplace; an ideal
way to end a perfect day. For those who are a little more active, there
is a horseshoe pitch and a bocce set can be found in the closet in the foyer.
In the storage shed, you will find our beach wagon, equipped with all the
essentials for a day
on the north shore beaches. You will find a beach blanket,
|
|
beach chairs, beach towels, a cooler, a Frisbee, some beach toys for the kids,
and a couple of kites for the kid in you. |
